One of Paris Saint-Germain's new signings this summer is a cause for concern: Lucas Digne, who returned to the club this summer for €10 million.
According to L'Equipe, his adaptation is not going smoothly. He doesn't seem to have adapted to Luis Enrique's playing style yet, which is somewhat understandable at this stage of the season. But more importantly, he doesn't seem to have the mentality the team needs.
The newspaper wrote: "Paris is looking forward to a different kind of fighting spirit."
With Nuno Mendes absent, his exclusion from the starting lineup against Lille could even be seen as Luis Enrique's first warning to the former Barcelona player.
A source within Paris Saint-Germain told the sports newspaper: "He needs to wake up. If he had come here accepting that he was the second choice, that would be fine, but he's not here for a vacation or semi-retirement."
Nobody said he was just like that, but we won't accept that attitude. He has to fight, try to be better than Nuno, because Nuno can't play every game. He has to compete; that's part of his adaptation phase.
It has also been noted within Paris that, like other players who participated in the World Cup, his physical condition has not yet returned to its peak. While those around him insist that the player is "full of fighting spirit" and ready to fight for his place, Digne probably knows better than anyone that he will soon have to raise his level.
